In Altona between Max-Brauer-Allee and Museumstraße the Platz der Republik is situated. The park forms an axis between the Altona townhall in the south and the train station in the north, whilst the high-rise building of the Deutsche Bank in the north is in sharp contrast to that of the townhall. The premises comprise a sunbathing area, various cosy spots, a number of playground elements, a pool with fountain, numerous wooden benches and a sand court for boule and other games. Since April 2000 a historical well from 1900 is situated on the premises.
