The Sievekingsplatz is dominated by the historic dome-shaped Hanseatic supreme court building dating from 1907 to 1912. It is flanked by the Civil Law Court, built of sandstone and yellow brick, and the red-brick Criminal Law Court. Representative of the spirit of that time are the enormous reception halls of the three imposing turn-of-the century buildings symbolising the awe in which the law was to be held.
